About Us

The Canadian Sheep Breeders' Association is an organization of over 1000 breeders of purebred sheep across Canada, representing over 40 breeds of sheep. We are a democratic organization, operated by officers and directors elected by the membership. We are dedicated to working for the interests of sheep breeders across the country, whatever breed they may happen to represent. The Board of Directors of the Canadian Sheep Breeders' Association are elected by and represent purebred sheep organizations in each province.

There are many topics associated with animal husbandry, such as the study of genetics and bloodlines. We feel that these are subjects for your personal study; however, good common sense is your best ally. Such practical things as feeding, proper care, careful selection of females, and the use of a proper flock sire are important factors. For general information concerning sheep husbandry, flock health and such topics, we recommend that you contact your local provincial Ministry of Agriculture.

Although CSBA is responsible for the rules concerning registration of purebred sheep and their enforcement, the actual work of registration, record keeping, and processing CSBA memberships is contracted out to Canadian Livestock Records Corporation. CLRC can be reached at: CLRC, 2417 Holly Lane, Ottawa, Ont. K1V 0M7, phone 613-731-7110, ext. 306, fax 613-731-0704.

Annual membership in CSBA is $30.00, plus applicable GST.
